KZN bracing for heavy rains, thunderstorms
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The South African Weather Service
has urged KZN residents to brace themselves for heavy downpours expected to hit
the province on Thursday and Friday.

It says this is due to a cold front system that will sweep across KZN, bringing thunderstorms.
Forecaster Ayanda Nsele said the heavy rains are expected to be more intense in the Ugu, eThekwini and Ilembe areas.
"We have a higher orange level 6, and that warning is a disruptive warning, not severe storms. And disruptive rain, because we're expecting mostly disruptive rain with flooding, heavy downpours starting tomorrow evening and persisting throughout the day on Friday," said Nsele.
"We're only expecting things to start easing off towards the weekend, but there is still rain expected over the weekend, but we're not seeing any possible warnings with that."

She said the Midlands will also experience severe rains accompanied by lightning and hail.
"We have a yellow level 4, which is a high medium likelihood of significant impact for severe thunderstorms that will be accompanied by heavy downpours leading to flooding and damage to infrastructure.
"That is valid for the interior, including the King Cetshwayo area. It is excluding Umkhanyakude at this stage."
