KZN boy suffers vicious attack by dogs at school
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The Department of Education in KZN has dismissed claims the dogs that bit a 10-year-old child at an Ixopo school stayed on the property.

The schoolboy was attacked last week at Ixopo Village Intermediate School.
He's still being treated in hospital for a severe injury to the head.
The Democratic Alliance claimed the dogs have been on school premises since 2021, but the department's Muzi Mahlambi says that's not true.
He says because it's a rural area, animals are often roaming around.
Mahlambi says they are attending to the matter with other departments, including Agriculture.
"These dogs are from the area. What has happened is an unfortunate situation where a learner was bitten by these dogs. Agriculture will know what actions should be taken, but we are in contact with the family.
"The district director has been to the family, and we are thinking together with other departments as to what help can be given to the family."
The DA has called on Education MEC Mbali Frazer to investigate and ensure the safety of pupils.
