Buthelezi mum on new Zulu King marriage rumours
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Questions around a Zulu royal wedding have cropped up at a press briefing about the incoming monarch, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
"The present speculation that his majesty would be compelled to marry before he has installed suggests that our present government wishes to mimic what the apartheid regime imposed on our people.
"This is an inflammatory accusation which I think can cause deep distress," says Prime Minister to the Zulu Nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi who was speaking on Tuesday.

Buthelezi says he doesn't know if the new King is married.
There're reports doing the rounds that kaZwelithini tied the knot last week before his mother - the late regent Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu- was interred.
Buthelezi - the Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Nation - has been fielding questions in Durban about the royal's rumoured nuptials.

He says marriage isn't a prerequisite for the King to ascend the throne.
"I am not saying that the King will not get married before he takes the throne. It is quite possible that he may choose to marry before he ascends the thrown but there is no reason why he is not being married could stop him from ascending the throne."
