It could snow in parts of KZN, says Weather Service

As the cold front sets in, snow is expected to fall over the south western parts of KwaZulu-Natal from this evening.

The South African Weather Services Forecaster, Thandiwe Gumede says they are expecting normal snow over the Southern Drakensburg, however, temperatures will be cold in parts of KZN.
"Tomorrow, we are expecting quite a cool to cold day - more cooler along the coastal areas such as Durban, Richard's Bay, Margate, and St Lucia. It will be colder towards the interior - Howick, Pietermaritzburg and Greytown. And it will be very cold in the Western parts of KZN," she said.
Gumede says the snow will not stay too long.
"From our side it looks like it will come in overnight and then it's going to last up until 2pm tomorrow. There should be traces of it but it also will be already melting," she said.
The Snow Report says there is likelihood of snow tomorrow along the berg as well as across the mountain ranges of Lesotho including over the Eastern Cape mountains. Flurries of snow are also expected in the KZN Midlands and the Underberg area.
Meanwhile, the National Sea Rescue Institute says with the cold front that hit yesterday and the full moon spring tide, huge swells are expected. It is advised that caution is exercised along the coast.
