IPID to probe Dalton shootout says official

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) says its officers have been sent to examine the scene where two police officers were killed on Thursday morning in a shootout in Dalton.
The male sergeant, 40, and a female constable, 33, apparently broke into a post office in the area.
The SAPS says a multi-disciplinary team spotted the two in a police patrol car between Dalton and Greytown.

It's alleged when they tried to stop the patrol vehicle - one of the occupants started shooting at them - prompting the team to return fire.
Police say an angle grinder, jack hammer and ink-stained notes were found in the patrol car.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate's, Sontaga Seisa says they're on the case.
