A crippling power outage has rocked Durban's Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital.
The public facility is understood to have been running on generators since midday on Monday.
Staff members say the four-day power failure has crippled critical services, with some surgeries having to be cancelled.

Several patients were sent home on Wednesday.
Air conditioners aren't functioning, and staff have complained of unbearable working conditions.
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa’s Mbali Sebela says they've heard unconfirmed reports that the outage is linked to the ongoing DSW strike.
"Our big plea is to the municipality of eThekwini, the mayor and everyone that is involved to come out and make sure they resolve this strike because this thing is affecting people who are supposed to come for their referrals, which they had to wait for months to get a date.

"This thing is becoming normal of power loss at the hospital. Sometimes power failures are caused by cable theft, busting of transformers and before another issue of a strike."
