Ian Rawlins to hear fate for wife Delana's murder
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A Maritzburg man found guilty of murdering his wife will learn his fate on Monday.
Ian Rawlins confessed to shooting his wife Delana, in Ashburton last year.
It was after an argument broke out between the two, who were in the process of getting a divorce.
Yesterday, a victim impact statement was read out in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
Rawlins also wrote a letter expressing remorse and regret for his actions.
Delana's relative, Maureen Hammond says listening to his statement felt like a slap in the face.

"We've been there from the beginning. There has been no remorse from the get-go, absolutely no remorse. Even when he came in and he was in the dock, you could see that he didn't bother how the family felt, he didn't even bother about his own daughter."
Community member, Jiselle Ball who also attended the proceedings, says she could not help but think about others in the same situation.
"We are scared and because these things happen so often and nothing is done about it within the community, we are scared. We walk around in fear all the time."
