Homemade booze kills 5 in KZN
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Inquest dockets have been opened after five people died, allegedly after consuming homemade alcohol in KwaMakhutha, south of Durban.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says it's unclear when exactly they drank the concoction.
The deaths occurred last week after they became ill.
She says the victims were aged between 42 and 57.
Most of them were from Illovo.
“I can confirm the person who made the alcohol also fell sick and died. The other people are still in hospital.”
The exact cause of the deaths are still unknown and will be determined by a post-mortem.
