Head-on collision near Mariannhill claims life

A woman has lost her life in a double vehicle crash along Richmond Road near the Mariannhill Police Station.

Rescue Care spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson says two men from the other car were hurt in this morning's collision.
"The one driver was severely entrapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise her in the vehicle. The Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut the lady free. Once freed, the patient was carefully extricated."

"The patient who had sustained multiple critical injuries was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene before being rushed to the Lenmed Ethekweni Hospital however due to the injuries sustained she passed away a short while later," he says.
It's not known what led to the crash.
