Hazelmere water restrictions still in place
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Umgeni Water says weekend rainfall has had no effect on the Hazelmere Dam levels which are at 25.8%.

The entity's Shami Harichunder says over the past 30 hours, roughly 30ml of water was received in the vicinity of Hazelmere but not in the Dam's catchment areas which includes Greytown, Kranskop and Wartberg.
Harichunder says the rainfall recorded amounts to less than half the expected rainfall received during the spring and summer months.
He says as a result, water restrictions remain in place.
"Given the excessively high temperatures that we've had, rainfall for about 30ml is just a few drops into the ground. It has really [produced] runoff water - runoff water, meaning water that runs off the ground and into a dam. It probably helps with the growing of vegetables and plants," he said.
