Hazelmere Dam levels improving: eThekwini
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
eThekwini Municipality says it's managed to slow down the decline rate of some dams through its short-term interventions.
This emerged at the Drought Business Indaba currently underway at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban where the City is updating various business sectors on the its drought status.
Senior manager at eThekwini Water Operations, Ashan Nandlall says dam levels dropped at an alarming rate in March because rains did not fall in catchment areas.

He says Midmar Dam levels continue to drop while Hazelmere has shown some improvement.
''In 2014, levels were 100% and you can see over time in the last two years the levels have dropped significantly. Fortunately, with recent rains in the lower catchment, Hazelmere has gone up from 25%.
''It was scaling over December and the middle of last year. It has actually gone up to 47%. There is a bit of relief in the Hazelmere system,'' he said.
