Gordhan is not being investigated: NPA
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Director of Public Prosecutions, Shaun Abrahams says Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is not being investigated for espionage.
Abrahams has been responding to media reports that Gordhan could be among those arrested in connection with the so-called SARS rogue unit.
The unit is alleged to have spied on taxpayers.
Abrahams says neither he nor the institution need political go-ahead to decide whether to prosecute.

"The matter is not on my desk. It will only make its way to me once investigations are concluded. Recommendation thereon made to me - I call upon all concerned including the media, politicians, legal commentators and economists to stop playing with our economy.
"Stop deriving political mileage out of this matter and any other matter," he said.
