Fourth suspect nabbed in connection with Normandien farm murders

Police say a fourth suspect has been charged with the murders of an elderly Normandien couple.
Sixty-three-year-old Glen Rafferty and his 60-year-old wife Veda were shot and killed almost a year ago on their farm near Newcastle.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Jay Naicker says 33-year-old Sibongiseni Madondo was arrested earlier this month and remains in custody.
"He appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on 23 August this year. He was remanded in custody until 30 August.

"During the arrest on Monday, 9 August, the suspect was found in possession of a pistol with 32 rounds of ammunition.
"He appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on 10 August for being in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition."
Naicker says he will join his co-accused who remain in custody.
"They were arrested in October 2020 and the case against them was remanded to 17 January 2022.

"Sizwe Zwane aged 33 pleaded guilty in the Pietermaritzburg High Court in March this year and was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for both murders and robbery."
