This year's matric writing season is over and the countdown to the release of exam results 2017 has begun.
The official release is expected in January with the IEB results made available on 2 January 2018 and the NSC results on 5 January 2018. The Education Minister will deliver the overall national results on 4 January 2018.
Marking of papers is currently underway. The Basic Education Department says 11 million answer sheets from 800 000 candidates have been collected while 44 markers appointed in 144 centres in nine provinces.

Here's a short list of how you can access your matric results.
1. The Basic Education Department says your school is the primary source for results. They will be available at 5am in the morning of the release date. The official matric certificate will be made available to you by your school at a later stage.
2. Newspapers, nationally, will publish the results on the morning of the official release. Nationally, publications such as The Argus, Rapport, and The Star will carry the results. In KZN, The Mercury will carry a supplement of the results.
3. You can access results via the Basic Education Department's website where you will be required to enter your exam number.
4. Send a text message with your ID and exam number to 35658. ALternatively, you can use the USSD service by dailling *120*35658# on the date of release. A few questions will follow before being prompted to enter an ID number. You will then receive results per subject.
