Four rhinos poached, dehorned at KZN reserve
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Project Rhino KZN says the fight against rhino poaching remains an on-going battle.
This follows the recent killing of four rhinos in the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife says the carcasses were found last week with their horns missing.
Rangers say judging by their state of decay, the animals were poached on different dates, but within a short space of time.
Project KZN spokesperson Francois du Toit, says while the lockdown had provided some respite, the threat is still there.
"COVID-19 allowed us to catch our breath for a while as transport routes were shut, but it's not like the poachers have gone away", he said.
"There a group of incredible guys doing some amazing work against unbearable odds so we do whatever we can to support them", du Toit said.
