Fort Hare students to boycott centenary celebrations

Centenary celebrations are due to get underway this hour at the University of Fort Hare.
President Jacob Zuma is expected to be among the dignitaries at the event as is Zimbabwean President and former Fort Hare student Robert Mugabe.
Many of South Africa's political elite including Oliver Tambo and former President Nelson Mandela studied at the institution.

Today's celebrations come amid violent students protests which saw a building and tent torched on Wednesday night.
These students have explained why they won't participate in today's events.
