The uncle of Tongaat teenager Andile' Bobo' Mbuthu who was killed after allegedly stealing alcohol from Magagula Lounge tavern says they want the suspects denied bail.
Mbuthu disappeared after the allegations in May.
Shortly after a video surfaced showing the boy being repeatedly beaten up and lying helplessly in a pool of blood where it's believed he was held against his will for days at Magagula tavern.
His mutilated body was later found dumped at a local river.
On Tuesday, the six men suspects accused of Mbuthu's disappearance, kidnapping and death appeared at the Verulam Magistrate's Court wheretheir bail application continued and closing arguments between their attorney, Chris Gounden, and the State begun.
Previously the court heard from the State, that Mbuthu's body was burnt before being put into a bag filled with bricks, then tossed into a river only to be found weeks later.
Mbuthu's uncle, Ntobeko Ngidi, says while they understand delays around bail proceedings, they hope the accused are denied bail.
"With regards to the issue concerning the bail application, yes, we do feel that it's been prolonged a long time, but we do understand the circumstances based on the fact that there is this issue concerning COVID-19.
"However, as a family, we are quite a bit happy with regards to that its might be finished during the cause of the week. As a family, we don't want them to get bail. We want them to remain in custody till the beginning of the trial."
