Extent of Manguzi rain damage ‘still being calculated’

The uMhlabuyalingana Municipality says it's still calculating the extent of the destruction caused by torrential rains in Manguzi.

Heavy rains lashed the area this week after tropical storm Filipo made landfall in Mozambique.
City Manager Xolani Dludla says two homes were damaged.
"There is some damage that happened in Ward 19, some rooftops were taken away by the storm but no fatalities."

He says some roads were also affected.
"Some gravel roads are not in a proper state so we will send our disaster and technical teams to go and evaluate the damage then we will be able to declare to the public how much it is going to cost us."
The Department of Social Development officials have been assisting with essentials such as food.
