eThekwini's stormwater teams dispatched to unblock flooded roads

eThekwini officials say maintenance teams have fanned out across the municipality to unblock stormwater drains.

Blockages due to days of torrential showers have left numerous roads submerged in and around Durban, including Pinetown, Amanzimtoti and uMdloti.
The city's spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says roads and stormwater teams are doing their best to unclog the drains.

He's urged residents living near a swollen river between Mega City in uMlazi and Lamontville to be cautious.
"We are urging anyone on the road to take it easy and we are also requesting all our residents who are in low-lying areas that in the event they see levels of water rising please get alternative accommodation."
