More than half of the 80 coronavirus infections in KwaZulu-Natal are in the eThekwini District.
Premier, Sihle Zikalala gave a breakdown of the cases at a briefing in Mayville in Durban on Tuesday, following a meeting of the Provincial Executive Council.
"Three in Amajuba District, 45 in eThekwini, four in Ugu, five in Umgungundlovu, one in Umkhanyakude. The provincial Department of Health has increased tracer teams in districts to almost 2 000," he said.
Today it was announced that there are twenty new cases in the province - when the Health Minister said the number of infections nationally had risen to 554.
Last night, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a 21-day lockdown from midnight on Thursday - to help slow the spread of the disease.
Last week, a raft of coronavirus regulations was gazetted.
Zikalala says so far 19 have been arrested in the province for failing to adhere to the regulations.

"These cases are those people who some of them would have just continued with their gatherings irrespective of the regulations and directives."
"Some of them are those who went ahead to public areas which were already closed, and we are going to ensure that these cases are followed."
