eThekwini slams torching of municipal vehicles
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The eThekwini Municipality has called on the police to track down the culprits who torched two municipal vehicles in KwaXimba, near Cato Ridge.
A protest over water supply shortages turned violent on Monday when municipal workers arrived to begin repairs.
The city's Msawakhe Mayisela says this isn't the first time municipal workers were attacked in the area.
In March, police released a group of workers who were held hostage by protesting community members.

"We want to state it categorically that our teams were already in the area trying to attend to problems that has resulted to water not being provided normally.
"But also while we were busy, there were water tankers in the area that we have deployed as a temporary measure in that regard.
"The mayor is calling upon our communities to refrain from resorting to violence in the event there is anything that they are unhappy about,” says Mayisela.
