eThekwini deputy mayor will serve full term in office - lawyer
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Attempts to have deputy mayor Philani Mavundla removed from office will be left off the agenda when eThekwini's council reconvenes its meeting on Tuesday.

The Durban High Court's granted him an interim order to halt his possible removal.
Mavundla sought an urgent interdict on Monday after the council speaker received a notice of motion to remove him from his position.
The Abantu Batho Congress leader became Durban's deputy mayor after an agreement with the ANC, which failed to secure an outright majority in the November local government elections.
Last week's council meeting ended in chaos after EFF members disrupted the meeting, calling for the mayor's resignation.
Mavundla's lawyer Thando Mbili says the deputy mayor won't leave his position until he's served his full term.
"The meeting is going to continue, however, the issue of ousting Mavundla as the deputy mayor cannot be discussed at that meeting.
"Until such time that there is full compliance with the provisions, specifically the provisions of the municipal structures act that describes that notice must be given to all members of council and that the most important part."
