Elderly couple killed on Newcastle farm

Police in northern KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a double murder on a farm in Newcastle's Normandien area.
A couple was found dead in their home on Sunday.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says 63-year-old Glen Rafferty and his 60-year-old wife, Vida appear to have been shot and killed by intruders on Saturday night.
"The suspects ransacked the house and they destroyed the cameras and the camera control was also taken.

"The suspects fled the scene with the victims' vehicle, which was later found abandoned. We are appealing to anyone with information on the suspects involved to contact the local police."
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala's condemned the murders saying farm killings remain a serious concern in the province.
"Farm killings remain a serious concern in the province. We condemn this murder of the farming couple in the strongest terms possible.
"The ongoing killing of farmers goes against the spirit of Ubuntu. It is an indictment on the significant contribution made the farming community in the upliftment of our rural people," says Zikalala.
