EFF says Mbete will consider their Nkandla proposal
Updated | By Heart FM News
The EFF says National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete will consider the party's proposal that three retired judges compile a report regarding possible disciplinary action against President Jacob Zuma for not upholding the Constitution.
Opposition parties and Parliament's presiding officers met yesterday over Zuma and the Nkandla matter.
The DA's called for a multi-party Parliamentary committee to investigate whether Zuma misled the National Assembly.
The opposition party's John Steenhuisen says the meeting was a small step towards strengthening the institution.
"It gave opposition parties, including the DA, an opportunity to put on the table the things that we believe are most important and need urgent addressing and I think the meeting was useful from that.
"Unless there is major institutional reform of Parliament following this watershed judgement, the meeting would have just been another talk shop," he said.
