EFF joins Durban street vendors march against harassment
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KZN has thrown its weight behind Durban street vendors and is demanding the scrapping of the Hawkers Unit.

They're accusing the unit's law enforcement officers of harassing and victimising informal traders.
The group marched to City Hall on Monday and handed over a memorandum of demands to the mayor's office.

The EFF's Mlebuka Hlengwa said: "Those who do not have permits are brutalised. They are beaten by Metro Police, their stuff are confiscated.
"We are expecting Metro Police or the municipality itself to respond very quickly because if they don't respond, we are probably going to take their matter to the council. If we do not win it in the council we will be forced to go to court."
They've given the municipality seven days to respond.
