Education dept verifying leaked report
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The Basic Education Department says it's been left baffled after the 'jobs-for-cash' report was leaked to the media.
The ministerial task team led by Professor John Volmink had been probing allegations into the sale of principal and teacher posts by teachers' union Sadtu in some provinces, including KZN.
Education Spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says the final report was distributed to all teacher unions so they could make inputs.
''What we are doing at the moment is to verify the contents of that report with the actual report that we have as the department in order for us to identify if indeed what has been leaked to the media is the true report that the minister is going to make public,'' he said.
Sadtu says it's disappointed by the leaking of the report saying the process has not yet been completed.
The report is due to be released on Friday.
