Durban south residents warned of water interruptions from Thursday
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Some residents in the southern parts of Durban will want to prepare for possible water supply disruptions later this week.
Another aqueduct at Nagle Dam will be shut down for repairs on Thursday morning after a leak was detected.
It's one of four that carry raw water from the dam to the Durban Heights Water Treatment Plant.
Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder says two of them are already out of commission after being damaged in the floods.
"The estimate is that it will take six days to complete the repairs in aqueduct three. The aqueduct carries in the region of 180 million litres of raw water daily."

"In the period in which the aqueduct will be shut down for repairs, Umgeni Water will have a shortfall in raw water to the Durban Heights Plant.
"What this means is that Umgeni Water will also be providing eThekwini a reduced amount of drinking water for supply to consumers."
He says Umlazi, Chatsworth, Northdene and surrounding areas will experience insufficient supply or very low pressure during the shutdown.
"Umgeni Water wants to take this opportunity to apologise to consumers in these areas for the inconveniences that are likely to be caused. It is also extremely important that these repairs are conducted because the leak has got to a stage where it is quite significant."
