The eThekwini Metro Police Department has vowed to beef up security on roads like the N2 to prevent disruptive unplanned protests.
This comes after an incident involving two trucks that were burnt by protesters in Chesterville, west of Durban, who were angry over what they said was a lack of service delivery in the area.
Metro police spokesperson Boysie Zungu says such protests are putting lives in danger.
