Dube-Ncube hails financial boost from Comrades

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says
the 95th edition of the Comrades Marathon has handed the province a much-needed
financial boost.
"It's been a beautiful day, athletes coming from more than 70 countries and that injection into our economy, to our hospitality that is still trying to recover from the Covid-19 and floods in 2019 and everything that ha s happened over time.”
Dube-Ncube congratulated the runners as they made their way across the finish line at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
Tete Dijana, a 34-year-old security guard from North West, took gold in the men's event.

Russian Athlete Alexandra Morozova, whose last-minute court bid permitted her to compete, clinched first place in the women's race.
The premier says the incredible spirit of the Comrades has inspired the country once again.
"It's really a wonderful time for us and you can see people of South Africa and people of KZN have welcomed all our athletes with good heart and wonderful applause."
