Drought-hit KZN communities hope for more rain
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
While the heavy rains have caused extensive damage to some homes in Durban and on the south coast and have left road in a mess, other KZN residents who haven't had this much rain in a while are hoping it continues at least for the next three days and over a larger area.
Mqobokazi in Hluhluwe is one of the worst hit areas by the drought gripping KwaZulu-Natal.
The area's chief Bhekinkosi Zikhali says for the past two days and today residents have been collecting the precious rain water in barrels.
"Since last year, the drought has become worse. We now use bath water four times with children being the last to use the water and get ready for school before being used for washing," he said.
