Disgruntled ex-employee, alleged hitman in court for murders

An alleged disgruntled ex-employee who was fired from a Pietermaritzburg company is in court today along with a suspected hitman on suspicion of murder.

It's alleged the ex-worker is responsible for attacks on some of the company's staff said to have been involved in the disciplinary hearing.


The employee was was let go for arriving at work drunk. 


Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says a security guard and his son were shot and killed at their home at Snathing Location in January this year.

Mbele says a female security guard was also shot and injured at Imbali in January 2019. 


"The presiding officer had his vehicle and home at Sweetwaters set alight and also received death threats in July, last year. 


These cases were reported to the Plessislaer police station and were assigned to the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit. The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula applauded the investigating officers for the arrests. 


Mbele says the two suspects are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, intimidation, malicious damage to property, and arson.
