Death toll from KZN storms climbs to 8

The death toll from the weekend storms
in KwaZulu-Natal has climbed to eight.
The torrential rain, hailstorms and strong winds lashed several municipalities including the uMkhanykude District where six of the victims died.
KZN Cooperative Governance MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi says the latest fatalities were reported in the Inkosi Langalibalele and Nquthu municipalities.
“Our disaster management team discovered two additional casualties who succumbed from the result of lightning during the weekend severe thunderstorms in KZN."

The MEC says over 4,000 people have been affected by the storms.
She says 42 schools, most of them in uMkhanyakude, suffered some damage.
