Death toll from Limpopo bus crash rises to 22

The death toll from this week’s bus crash in Limpopo has risen to 22 after police divers found another body near the scene of the crash.

Police divers returned to the scene on Thursday morning after a family reported that they could not locate a loved one who was on the Mabirimisa bus.
The bus plunged into Phandanama River along the N1 following a head-on collision with a cash-in-transit van on Monday.

Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani has promised to ensure that victims are assisted when claiming for the Road Accident Fund, her spokesperson Vongani Chauke said on Wednesday.
“For her part, the MEC has committed that she will endeavour to ensure that her department expedites the conclusion of the accident report so that the victims can make claims with the Road Accident Fund.”
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
