De Klerk: SA in a constitutional crisis

Former President FW De Klerk says there is an urgent need to discuss what he believes to be a constitutional crisis facing the country.

De Klerk was speaking at the National Foundation Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) in Parktown this morning.
"We are facing a constitutional crisis that needs a new national dialogue.

"We have a president who has not upheld his oath of office," said De Klerk, referring to the Constitutional Court judgement which found that President Jacob Zuma failed to uphold the Constitution.
"The call to South Africans is to defend constitutional democracy to work together build strong economy and oppose racism," de Klerk said.
De Klerk was one of eight speakers at the Dialogue Initiative.
Former Presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe will also address the dialogue session.
