The party made the announcement on Wednesday while unveiling its anti-crime campaign at Ntuzuma township, north of Durban.

Provincial leader Francois Rodgers said political killings have continued, despite recommendations by the Moerane Commission.

The commission was tasked with looking into the cause of political killings in the province.

One of its recommendations was for political parties to take responsibility for the killings and to hold members accountable.

On Tuesday, an ANC councillor survived a hit, while an NFP councillor is said to be in a critical condition after being shot outside a Nongoma hospital on Wednesday morning.

"We have also written to political parties in the province that are represented in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature to strategise a way forward to address the ongoing political killings,” Rodgers said.

“Our engagements will further include the killing of Izinduna in the province, which is also a surge that faces us."
