Democratic Alliance (DA) councillors have been picketing outside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall to demand answers from the uMsunduzi municipal manager about power outages in the northern areas.
Some households have been without electricity since Wednesday, when a severe storm damaged their substation.
The DA has accused municipal officials of not being forthcoming with information on when power is going to be restored.
DA caucus leader in uMsunduzi Ross Stratchan says no answers have been forthcoming..
"The DA caucus is standing outside the City Hall as per our commitment last night waiting to confirm if electricity will be back in the northern areas where is now day six where the community have had no electricity and wanting answers to this severe crisis.
"We will be waiting here until the MM arrives to ask for feedback and a way forward and to get an understanding of how the people of the northern areas will be relieved from this desperate situation."
