DA councillor arrested after family dies in house fire

A Democratic Alliance member has been arrested in connection with a fire that broke out at his home, leaving his family dead.

The party has confirmed that the councillor from Bergville was taken in by police last night.
It's after a fire engulfed his home in October this year.

The blaze claimed the lives of his wife and three children.
The party's KZN leader, Francois Rodgers says they are shocked by the arrest.
“Should the justice system prove his guilt then he must face the full mutt of the law."
"From a party perspective, the province will also be notifying the chairperson of the federal legal commission that internal process will now be followed federal legal commission."
