COVID-19 centre at Clairwood Hospital officially handed over

A COVID-19 field hospital linked to Durban's Clairwood Hospital has been officially handed over to the provincial health department.
It was handed over by Public Works and is being used as an isolation and quarantine facility.
Clairwood hospital has 290 beds. The field section adds 240 more beds.

Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday, Premier, Sihle Zikalala said this had cost R232 million.
"The proactiveness and the coordination have lead us to deliver this hospital within a period of six months.
"Normally it would take us more than three years to deliver such a project, but now we have managed to do it within the six months period," says Zikalala.
