Notorious KwaZulu-Natal hitman Fisokuhle Ntuli is among the suspects linked to the murder of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.
National police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo made the revelation after the 32-year-old appeared in the Esikhaleni Regional Court on Tuesday.
He was due to be sentenced for carrying out a hit on African National Congress (ANC) councillor Thami Nyambe.
Nyambe'e wife was seriously hurt in the 2016 attack.
Ntuli was convicted for six counts of murder, one of attempted murder and four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
His case was adjourned to December after his lawyers asked that a pre-sentence report be presented in court first.
Naidoo says investigators linked Ntuli to murders outside KwaZulu-Natal.
"He is accused number five in that murder investigation of Senzi Meyiwa. So he is implicated there but also he is a person of interest in several other cases, most of which I am told are murder cases in the Gauteng province so of cause, we are hoping that those cases are bough before court as soon as possible as well."
Meyiwa was shot and killed in 2014 while he was visiting his girlfriend in Vosloorus.
