Convicted KZN killer ‘sorry’ for stabbing ex-girlfriend
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
A man who killed his ex-girlfriend at an Umhlanga taxi rank says he is remorseful.

Siphamandla Khumalo was found guilty of murder by the Durban High Court on Monday.
He stabbed 30-year-old Nomfundo Msibi 22 times last year over an unsettled lay-bye account that was under his name.
Monday was the first time Khumalo took the stand after choosing not to testify during his trial.
He told the court after the verdict was read that he was sorry for the crime he committed against the mother of his six-year-old child.
Khumalo admitted that he let his emotions get the better of him when they argued about the account - and insisted he did not intend to kill Msibi.

He also apologised to her family, who were seated in court, saying he hoped they could reconnect for the sake of the child if he was released.
However, State Advocate Krishen Shah argued that Khumalo did not display genuine remorse, saying he sat expressionless even when graphic footage of the incident was shown in court.
Khumalo claimed he only realised what he had done two days after the stabbing.
In their victim impact statement, Msibi’s family said her death had left them not only financially strained but also deeply traumatised, especially her two children, one of whom she shared with Khumalo.
They are hoping for a harsh sentence.
The court was adjourned until Tuesday for sentencing.
