Cele to deploy more cops to political violence-hit northern KZN
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Police Minister Bheki Cele says the SAPS will commit more resources to areas of northern KwaZulu-Natal plagued by political violence.
Cele and police chief Fannie Masemola met with political parties in Nongoma on Thursday in a bid to keep tensions from spiralling out of control.
Fifty-two councillors and 103 political office bearers have been killed in the province since 2011.

The Interministerial Task Team investigating political killings in KZN is also investigating numerous cases of attempted murder, assault and acts of intimidation linked to political rivalry.
Cele has called for more tolerance, while warning the law is closing in on those who choose violence.
"Crimes that has been committed - murder, attempted murder and other things cannot be negotiated. Therefore, the police are under strict instructions that they must come and help people here at cleaning criminality."
