Cause of Durban warehouse blaze yet to be established

An investigation is underway to determine what caused a fire that tore through a warehouse in Durban.
eThekwini firefighters extinguished the blaze on Peters Road in Springfield Park on Wednesday night.
"It is a three-story building. The top floor was extensively damaged, the second floor had minor damage, and the basement was undamaged," says Divisional Commander Musa Biyela.

Biyela says the furniture factory houses timber, among other things.
No one was injured.
Biyela said when firefighters arrived, the warehouse was already engulfed in flames.

"The fire was already through the roof. We ascertained that no one was on the premises, put lines in place to protect the property, and continued fighting the fire until 9 a.m."
