The case against a KZN IEC official accused of illegally transporting voting and election material during the voting period last month has been pushed back to next week.
The IEC's Imbali area manager, Musawenkosi Mnikathi, appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Mnikathi has been charged with contravening the Electoral Act for transporting voting material in his personal vehicle.

However, his attorney argued the court did not have jurisdiction to hear the matter.
He requested that the matter be moved to the Electoral Court, but the request was denied, with the judge saying it was a criminal case.
MK Party members packed the courtroom amid claims by the party that the May 29 general election was rigged.
