The City of Cape Town has dispatched policing resources to help with the search for missing six-year-old Joslin Smith in Saldanha Bay on the West Coast.
She has been missing for more than a week after she disappeared outside her home in the Middelpos informal settlement.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says they have dispatched an extensive and experienced team to help with the search for Joslin.
The team includes investigators, K9 unit search dogs, Marine Unit members and watercraft, and experienced search and rescue volunteers.

Hill-Lewis says drones will support the teams’ search efforts.
“Our officers are already on the ground this morning to support the search effort for Joshlin Smith. As parents ourselves, it is extremely painful and distressing that this little girl is still missing. We pray she is found soon.”
The city’s MMC for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says the teams have extensive experience in assisting SAPS, as well as search and rescue expertise.
“We know these officers will bring valuable skills to the search effort. We initiated workstreams between municipalities to ensure that we are able to respond when called upon.”
