Calm returns to Isipingo as officials meet with protesting residents

Calm has been restored in Isipingo, south of Durban, following a violent protest on Monday morning.

Authorities say they've removed the burning tyres, rocks and debris that were used to blockade Old Main Road.

It's understood residents are not pleased with delays around their housing needs.
eThekwini Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad says City officials are there now.
"The Old Main Road in Isipingo near Pilgrim Railway Station has been opened. A huge crowd is now being addressed away from the roadway. The road is fully operational."
