Bianca Parsons: Defence maintains co-accused not involved in shooting

The defence in the Bianca Parsons murder trial believes the State has no proof that Christopher Housten planned the shooting or supplied the firearm to his co-accused.

Housten and Darryl Murrisson are on trial for the murder of Parsons in February last year.

The 32-year-old was shot dead in front of her then 3-year-old daughter at a petrol station in Wentworth, south of Durban.

Advocate Jay Naidoo cross-examined the investigating officer yesterday.

Naidoo argued that there was no exchange of a possible firearm between Housten and Murrisson in the moments before the shooting.

Three clips were played in court yesterday, with Housten appearing to tuck something silver into the back of his pants.

The State believes it was a gun that was later given to Murrisson.

Naidoo put it to the investigating officer that Murrisson had his own firearm, something the I/O said he could not comment on.

Murrisson pleaded guilty to the crime on Tuesday but said Housten was not involved.

The State rejected this, and his guilty plea was changed to one of not guilty.
