Another monkeypox case confirmed in South Africa
South Africa has recorded its fifth monkeypox case.
Health Minister Joe Phaahla's made the announcement on Friday morning.
He was speaking during a media briefing to update the nation on government's response to the virus, the fight against Covid-19, and other health issues.
Phaahla says the fifth patient is a 28-year-old man from Johannesburg who travelled to the Netherlands and Spain.
"The are currently no smallpox or monkeypox vaccines registered in South Africa. We also don't have registered anti-virus for monkeypox."

"There are also indicators they don't have any application as far as registration for monkeypox vaccination anti-virus in the country.”
Phaahla said he was advised there's no need for mass vaccinations, although government is monitoring the situation.
Monkeypox cases worldwide have now topped 35 000.
The World Health Organisation recently declared the virus a public health emergency.
