Angry Phoenix, Verulam residents take to streets over water crisis
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Disgruntled residents from
Phoenix and Verulam took to the streets at several intersections north of
Durban on Monday morning.
They were again pleading for help and answers as they grappled with what they're calling an endless water crisis.
Civil organisation, the Voice of Phoenix, led the service delivery demonstrations.
Organiser Pastor Mervin Reddy says they plan on handing over a memorandum of demands to eThekwini Municipality.
He says even though they've met with the mayor and water and officials from the Department of Water and Sanitation, solutions need to be implemented urgently.

City officials held discussions with residents in Phoenix on Saturday night - and promised to have their water supply fully restored by mid-February.
Reddy said the officials are contradicting themselves.
"Who do you believe? This seems like a game of ping pong where they contradict each other, and then you get Umgeni Water, who says to us that the city, the mayor and the head of water know your problem, tell them to give you the factual information that they've learned.
"So this is where the frustration, the anger and the animosity in the residents build up."
