Speaking shortly after his election was confirmed, Duma lauded the role played by Zikalala as provincial chairperson.

“We must thank the role that has been played by the out-going PEC that has been led by comrade Sihle Zikalala, who is now the former Chairperson, who’s currently the premier of KwaZulu-Natal.”

The conference will draw to an end on Sunday following the nomination and election of additional members.

It’s still unclear if President Cyril Ramaphosa will close the conference.
