Abandoned newborn doing well: Durban organisation
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
A newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in a bush just outside Durban yesterday is said to be doing well today after concerns she wouldn't make it.
Listen to the full bulletin below.
Jackey Branfield, who is with children's rights organisation, Operation Bobbi Bear says the infant was born around 6 hours earlier.
"Bobbie Bear was alerted to attend with the police, and we were on other cases so our financial director went along and what she found was not very nice."
She says the baby was not in a good condition.
"The umbilical cord had been really ripped apart in pieces and she was in a plastic bag as such," she added.
The child is receiving treatment and being monitored.
Police are investigating a case of child abandonment.
